Ok, so I understand the use of writing as an outlet for pent up emotions, etc., and that people sometimes just need to write to let that emotion out, regardless of the calibur of their writing. I'm not trying to knock the theraputic side of writing. I guess i just expected more...dedicated(?) writers on here. I mean, there are about 8 bagillion people on dev. art. Gah.
Wow, after two hours browsing the Literature section, I found like, two good pieces I really enjoyed. I knew that dev.art was more visually oriented in terms of style of users, but damn. Slim pickings. Too many clumsy rhymes, monotonous expressions of blind sorrow, and hate poems about love. Don't people write happy poetry, or non-fanfiction prose anymore? I don't mind a sad piece, so long as it isn't the same as the 8million other sad peices out there. In the words of Pound "Make it new." God damn it. I know I'm probably guilty of cliche and overdue obscurity at times, but at least I try to move away from it. C'mon people. Show me some good stuff.
